The biggest race in the Liverpool calendar is here again.
The Grand National this year is likely to be run on decent ground which is likely to equate to more finishers than is usually the case, therefore you can expect to have an increased chance of at least a run for your money on most of the field this time.
There is no doubt that it’s a very tricky race to dicipher, particularly with the ground conditions quickening up. Fast ground horses are likely to come to the fore with the out and out sloggers less favoured.
Horses that must be taken into consideration are Mouse Morris’s Hear The Echo based on last seasons Irish National win, Black Appalachi a winner over these fences at a shorter distance, Comply or Die last years winner and trained specifically for another crack at this.
Outsiders that merit a closer look are Brooklyn Brownie, Cornish Sett and Fleet Street who should all go on the ground even if it gets quicker.
Our recommendations for Saturday
2.50 Katchit e/w
3.25 Three Mirrors e/w
4.15 Grand National
Fleet Street e/w (125/1)
Cornish Sett e/w (40/1)
Brooklyn Brownie e/w (40/1)
To wet the appetite here is an all time Grand National classic memory.
The Melling Chase at 3.10 over two and a half miles is the main event on Friday at Liverpool. Voy Pur Ustedes and Nacarat both have strong claims in what is a weak renewal of this prestigious race. At the odds on offer Voy Pur Ustedes is not really a betting proposition however he is not one we would be looking to lay and neither would be Nacarat. Better opportunities are elsewhere on the card.
Our recommendations for Friday
2.35 Herecomesthetruth win
5.30 Morning Supreme win
